Dreams tells the ascent as it really is: not a straight line leading to the summit, but a succession of steps, pauses, and relapses, each at its own pace. A ladder rises, tilted and almost unstable, and on each of its rungs, a figure finds its own way to move forward—one rests, lying down, the other clings still to the ground, another already climbing confidently towards the top.
This work speaks of the path to what one desires deeply, and of the patience it requires. Each character embodies a different state of this quest: doubt, the necessary rest, renewed momentum, the first step still hesitant. None is ahead or behind the other—each simply advances where he or she is, and it is precisely this diversity of postures that makes the whole just and deeply human.
The inclination of the ladder, never perfectly vertical, reminds us that the path to a dream is never a guaranteed or comfortable path: it requires constant balance, renewed confidence at every step. And yet, everyone continues, because what awaits at the top deserves this suspended effort.
Dreams is part of my work on group dynamics and the stages of inner life — a way of saying that one never pursues a dream alone, even when one seems to be climbing alone: others, before or after us, follow the same path, at their own pace.
Made from solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique, Dreams reveals the natural shade of raw bronze, which is refined by the casting process.
