INSPIRATION
Pair of bronze sculptures.
Humility and Freedom face each other, with their beaks extended towards each other in a suspended gesture, halfway between encounter and flight. This brief moment when two trajectories intersect, where two different natures choose to look at each other rather than ignore each other, is at the heart of this work in two voices.
One leans forward, her neck inclined, in an attitude of listening and restraint. The other stands upright, her body stretched upward, carried by a momentum she does not seek to contain. Together, they form a silent dialogue between two forces that might seem opposed—discretion and assertion, anchoring and unfolding—but which, when combined, prove profoundly complementary. Neither takes the lead over the other: it is precisely this balance, this tension resolved by the mere proximity of their gazes, that gives the whole its full sense of justice.
Inspired by the silhouettes of the heron, the stork and the crane, these imaginary figures tell a story of a relationship where each person maintains their own posture, their own truth, without ever seeking to resemble the other. It is an image of a couple, of friendship or of any lasting relationship: not the fusion of two identical beings, but the meeting of two singularities that choose each other day after day, in respect for what distinguishes them.
Carved in solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique, the two sculptures combine the natural golden hue of raw bronze with a turquoise patina obtained through a chemical reaction at high temperature for Humility. Created by Liselotte Andersen, a sculptor based in Aix-en-Provence, these pieces are available together or separately, in several heights to suit the customization needs of the collector.
