INSPIRATION
La Connexion brings together two silhouettes that launch almost parallel, like two trajectories that have chosen never to separate while preserving each one of their own lines and verticality. It is not fusion that unites them, but this assumed closeness, this constant choice to remain turned towards each other.
A fine space remains between the two figures — enough for each to maintain their autonomy, yet not enough to make the connection palpable, almost tangible. This work speaks of what it really means to be connected: not to blend into the other, but to accept to grow alongside them, in the same movement, without ever losing one’s own identity. It is a connection that respects each other’s space while refusing distance.
The two heads, slightly turned towards each other, seal this silent dialogue: a glance is sometimes enough to say everything that needs to be said. The Connection thus evokes the couple, the fraternity, the deep friendship — any relationship where two beings move forward together in the same direction without ever fading away from each other.
This piece is part of my ongoing research into human relationships and dynamics in two-person settings, at the heart of a long-term approach to contemporary semi-figurative and abstract bronze sculpture that I have been developing.
Made of solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique, La Connexion receives its blue patina through a hot chemical reaction applied directly to the raw bronze.
